Egon Wellenbrink presents: Weekly market | Santanyí
For those who live in the southeast of the island, a visit to the weekly market of Santanyi – always on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year – is a must. In the impressive scenery of the sandstone facades of the market place around the church, and in the side streets, there is a crowd of local people and tourists who gather, during the market days. The surrounding inviting cafés and restaurants are also integrated into the market life and offer the market visitors coffee, breakfast or brunch. Here you can relax and watch the colourful hustle and bustle. Many locals also meet here to have a chat with the neighbours, and call the weekly market of Santanyi the most beautiful market of Mallorca. It has become a tourist attraction.
This picturesque weekly market with 150 colourful stalls has everything you may or may not need for your daily shopping: fruit, vegetables, pickled olives, salts, spices, herbs, pastries, cheese, cold meats, wine and liqueurs, clothes, household items and handicraft products. You are allowed to smell and taste the products on offer. If you have a little more time, it’s worth strolling through the side streets with trendy boutiques, hip galleries and shops selling handicrafts.
