Calvia village is the centre point of the Municipality of Calvia which extends from Paguera in the west, as far as the area of Cas Catala, (located on the outskirts of Palma) in the east. Its importance as Mallorca’s wealthiest municipality is evident by its impressive and powerful Town Hall, whose modern architecture seems to be on a similar par with the cathedral-like neo-Gothic church of Sant Joan Bautista. The construction of Sant Joan Bautista began in the 13th century and is very impressive, with its huge stained-glass windows and two bell towers. There are excellent motorway connections to Port Andratx, Santa Ponsa and also to Palmanova and on to the city of Palma. Calvia village is located in a tranquil, rural environment at the foot of the world cultural heritage Tramuntana and thus in the middle of the “other” Mallorca”.
