Heinz Hoenig visits the Bodegas Pere Seda | Manacor

Bodegas Pere Seda was founded back at the end of the 19th century and is now in its 5th generation, in which the acquired knowledge has always been passed down from father to son. They are among the pioneers of viticulture on Mallorca. Pere Seda has a total cultivation area of 100 hectares between Manacor and Felanitx, of which 54 hectares are their own vineyards and the rest are rented. This makes it the largest winery in the Pla i Llevant de Mallorca designation of origin. The vines thrive in this region: the climate is typically Mediterranean with an average temperature of 17° C, cool winters and hot, dry summers. The rainfall is between 400 and 450 mm per year and the average solar radiation is 2,800 h/a. The soil consists of limestone with a calcareous subsoil. As a result, the soil has good drainage. As the vineyards are practically at sea level, the Embat wind brings freshness, humidity and salinity. The wines produced there all have the “Pla i Llevant-Mallorca” designation of origin. The wines of Bodegas Pere Seda have received numerous national and international awards.

The Arxiduc series, in which there are white, rosé and red wines, is very popular. The L`Arxiduc Blanc is made from Chardonnay, Parellada and Moscatel grapes, the L`Arxiduc Rosat from Merlot and Tempranillo grapes and the barrel-aged Half Crianza L`Arxiduc Negre from Callet, Manto Negro and Tempranillo grapes. Bodegas Pere Seda are fully committed to the environment, in all areas from the vineyards to the bodega and logistics.
