Concrete, steel, glass, wood, minimalist architecture – these are the impressive features of the Alcúdia Auditorium, which opened in 2000. In its glass fronts, the medieval architecture of the city is reflected, distorts it and inspires contradiction. The building is celebrated in Alcúdia as one of the most important architectural examples of the 21st century, and not without reason. With the auditorium, the municipality created a theatre and concert hall, a new space for the municipal music school and a cultural centre that “should add a new dimension to the municipality’s culture”. In the 20 years since it opened, the fathers of the auditorium have always managed to involve businesses, fairs, public administration, cultural institutions, thus realising the founding plan.
The auditorium’s interesting, varied programme matches the sophisticated architecture: theatre, concert, magic, dance and cinema of a high standard are offered to the audience. Laughter, tears and an explosion of feelings and emotions are the order of the day at the Alcúdia Auditorium. In the last two decades, many important events have also taken place at the Auditorium, such as the Alcúdia-Jazz Festival, Circaire, the School Theatre Show, the Teresetes Festival, the Fiesta de Santa Cecilia and many others. And – the proramme makers do not stop and look for new formulas for the future to attract a new generation of audiences.
