The harbour, Club Náutico Santa Ponsa
The Club Náutico Santa Ponsa is a small picturesque port with a familiar character, built in the bay of “La Caleta”. It has moorings for 522 boats with lengths of between 7 and 22 metres. It offers all facilities and services and even received a “gold” award from Lloyd’s Register for the quality of its technical safety, services and hygiene standards.
The Club Náutico Santa Ponsa was extended in 1975. The bay of Sa Caleta, however, has a centuries-old history. On 10th September 1229 Jaime I of Aragon landed with his armada comprising 150 ships and 13,000 men, and it is from here that the reconquest of the island from the Moors began. This landing, and the ensuing massacre, gave rise to a great festival celebrated every year in the first week of September, in which the battle is re-enacted by the locals.
Not far from the Club Náutico Santa Ponsa, in the Avda. Rey Jaime I, 109, is the head office of Minkner & Partner, the specialist real estate agent who has a wide range of Santa Ponsa properties in its portfolio.
